Last night Jason brought home 4 mice to feed to the snake babies, 2 for Hef & 2 for Princess. After we ate we went to feed them & 2 of the mice were missing…
Somehow they’d escaped their box & ran for their lives…
Well one didn’t get very far before Little Bit’s killer instinct took over. I heard squeaking & turned around to find a little black mouse caught in Little Bit’s jaws. I ran over & grabbed him b the scruff of his neck until he finally let go. I was almost in tears. Finally he let go & the mouse dropped into my hand, it just sat there for a moment then turned it’s little black eyes to me, then it ran up my arm & settled itself between my shoulder & neck & nuzzled against my neck. I really did allmost burst into tears at that. I told Jason “Go ahead, take it away & feed it to them before I cry!” And to my surprise he said no, he said we could keep it as one of the breeder mice we were planning on buying this weekend!! I was so happy! I named it “Lucky” It sat in my hands & on my shoulder for a good 30mns before I finally put it in an empty snake cage. It didn’t bite me or poop, pee on me not once!! I went to feed it a few minutes ago though & it was sleeping in an old shirt I’d put in there for it to keep warm. When Lucky woke up (S)he was shaking really badly. I hope it’s going to be ok. Maybe they’re kinda like ferrets & shake alot when they first wake up?

Lastnight I went to bed a little after Jason, it was dark in the room and I couldn’t see where I was walking…I stepped in something squishy, cold & wet…I freaked out & turned on the light to see. There was about 4 spots of dark blueish grren stuff on the carpet. I thought it was ferret poop, but wondered what in the hell made it THAT color?…
Sooo….
I was laying in bed untill nearly2pm today, sleeping off & on cause I’m really not feeling well. The room door was open cause the kitty’s were being decent & not annoying as usual…I was half asleep & both cats came hauling ass into the room, jumped all over the bed & ran back out. I thought they were chasing some damned bug until I heard screaming. I jumped out of bed thinking they’d found the mouse that was MIA…no…Little Bit had a damned Brown Thrasher in his mouth & the poor birdie was screaming it’s head off. I freaked out * sctarted screaming at him & crying while scruffing him again to get him to drop the bird. He dropped in, then it flew away, he caught it again, so on & so forth. This cycle lasted another 3 or 4 times before I could get the poor thing outside & let it fly away. So that’s two animals lives I’ve saved in less than 24hrs…
but wait, there’s more…
As I was typing this blog up I heard screaming AGAIN. I said “oh shit, he found that damned mouse!” I jumped up, and it was ANOTHER Brown Thrasher!! I managed to save this ones life in less time. He dropped it & it flew down the hall into our room, I was carrying Little Bit by the scruff the entire way. I shut us both in the room & told him to catch it again. As soon as he did I grabbed him up & got it away & let it go outside also….
So apprently the mystery goop was bird shit. YUCK!!!
I’ve now saved 3 animals lives in less than 24 hours. I don’t think I can take anymore of this!! LOL I know cats are killers but I’m not going to let them killin front of me if I can help it!!….
Now…how did the birds get inside?… How did they get inside without us hearing or seeing them?…
Was that two different birds who nested somewhere in our house or was it the same bird come back to it’s nest?…
I guess if it happens again then I’ll know it was the same bird coming back…
Geez man, I haven’t had this much damned excitement in my life in a long time!! LOL
